On Thursday, December 4, 2025, the world lost a truly remarkable soul, Annie Mae Portier, who departed peacefully at her residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 90. Born on Thursday, July 11, 1935, in Morgantown, Mississippi, Annie's journey through life was marked by her loving spirit and unwavering kindness.
Annie was a shining beacon of love and compassion, a caring person with a big heart who never met a stranger and never turned anyone away. Every day with her was a blessing, radiating warmth and positivity that touched the lives of many. She poured her love into her home, particularly in her cherished yard, where she found joy in tending to her flowers, nurturing them with the same love she offered to those around her.
She was a devoted mother to her children, Annie Louise Wood, Patricia Ann Vining (Ronald), and Joseph Arthur Portier (Anjie), who carry her spirit forward. Annie was also the proud grandmother and great-grandmother to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by her gentle guidance and boundless affection. She had a special bond with her great great granddaughter, Raelynn, who she referred to as her baby.
Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton James Portier, and her dear children, Betty Sue Regan Duarte, Milton James Portier, Jr., and Curtis William Wood; her cherished parents, Littie Louella and Joseph Elvin Beard; her siblings, Frances Shelton, Richard Beard, Dorothy Farlow, and Lucille Sibley; and her great grandson, Justin Lee Miller who she has joined in eternal rest.
